The information on this page, plus a few seconds with a calculator will allow you to find out for yourself in advance how much we will charge you for any service we provide. If you’re in a hurry, just check the table below.

  • Choose whether you want verbatim or edited summarized transcription.
  • Choose the column which lists the volume of transcription work you need. This volume can either be a single project, or a number of projects adding up to the same volume on a monthly basis.
  • Choose from Standard or Discounted turnaround time.

Take the per minute price you have selected, and multiply by the length of your project in audio minutes. That’s it.

What we don’t charge for

Many transcription firms provide pricing that appears simple but isn’t because of the endless potential ways that the price can vary. To save ourselves a lot of effort on the telephone, we’ve decided to list here some of the things we don’t charge for:

  • No minimum charges.
  • No extra charge for difficult audio.
  • No charge for audio repair.
  • No extra charge for accents.
  • No extra charge for technical terms.
  • No extra charge for file conversion, or conversion from tape.
  • No variance of pricing based on source material or research type.
  • No variance of pricing based on number of speakers.
  • No extra charge for time coding or time stamping.
  • No deposits required.
  • No payment required for delivery.
  • No rush charges
  • No charge for a rush draft transcription.

The point of the above is, you can expect our quoted price, or the price you can calculate yourself from this page, to be the actual price you will pay for our services.

Audio minute-based pricing

Babbletype charges for transcription by the audio minute, which means if you know the length and quantity of audio to be transcribed, you can sort out for yourself exactly how much your work will cost to transcribe. We charge for the actual length of audio received, not including “dead air” on the tape or file.

How discounts work

We discount our pricing based on two factors: the volume of the work measured in audio hours, and the selected turnaround time requested. You can take advantage of discounts for volume, for turnaround time, or for both to maximize your savings.

Volume discounts

If you have a large single project or a group of projects all ordered at the same time, you can obtain an immediate discount on your order based on size. We offer significant price breaks at 20, 50, and 100 audio hours. For very large projects over 100 hours of audio, give us a call.

How to compare

We’re being incredibly specific here. If you know the transcription volume you need, and if you know the turnaround times you need, then with a little help from a calculator you can know exactly how much we’ll charge for our services right from this page. Since not everyone is quite so explicit in their pricing, it is important you are comparing apples to apples.

To do that, just again check the table above. Make certain to understand the turnaround you are going to receive, the volume you are quoting, and the type of transcription you are ordering.
